At the June 13th Jericho Board of Education meeting, fourteen Jericho Middle School students were recognized for their achievements at New York State History Day (NYSHD) in Cooperstown, New York. The event turned out to be even more dramatic when it was learned, that very day, that five of those students placed in the top ten in their project categories at National History Day (NHD), held at the University of Maryland.
All 7th and 8th grade Jericho Middle School students participated in Jericho History Day on January 18, 2019. Social Studies teachers selected 55 students to compete with their research projects at Long Island History Day at Hofstra University on March 31st. Jericho set a school record with 31 students being selected to compete at the New York History Day competition in Cooperstown. On April 29th, 13 of these Jericho students placed in the top 3 in the state.
