8th Grade Trip - Spanish Restaurant

8th grade students of Spanish had the chance to experience authentic Iberian cuisine.  On this field trip, students enjoyed tortilla española, fried Manchego cheese, patatas bravas, and paella (seafood, vegetarian), or arroz con pollo.  The meal ended off on a sweet note with flan and ice cream.  Some students took advantage of this excursion to converse in Spanish with the restaurant staff, and of course, with our own JMS teachers of Spanish, all of whom were present: Ms. Waters, Ms. Silva, Ms. Jensen, and Ms. Vidal.  We thank them, and also special thanks to Ms. Waters and Ms. Silva for organizing the educational experience for our students!

This learning activity falls in line with NYS Learning Standards for World Languages, and the national standards from the American Council for Teaching Foreign Languages.  Students have been learning Spanish vocabulary on food and how to order at a restaurant.
