Students of French receive response from President of France
9th grade students of French wrote letters to France's President Emmanuel Macron, inquisitive about his daily regimen, personal interests, and the nuances of the French language, particularly focusing on vocabulary intricacies. To their astonishment, President Macron graciously replied and expressed his appreciation for their keen interest in French culture and language. He commended their teacher, Mme. Caroline Kennedy, for instilling in them the values of global citizenship. Additionally, President Macron took the time to pen a handwritten note, offering words of encouragement for the students to continue their linguistic journey.
We thank Ms. Kennedy for creating this authentic language-learning experience for our JHS students of French.
This activity aligns to the national ACTFL standards, and revised NYSED learning standards, for Interpersonal Communication in the learning of foreign languages.
