Hybrid Teaching and Learning

Jericho is committed to providing its teachers and students with high quality hybrid teaching and learning resources. As a result of our experience during the COVID-19 school closings, we have added a number of software platforms to our district. Please read on for more information. This page outlines Jericho's hybrid and remote philosophy and approach. We will also use this page to update you on questions or concerns we have about the technology we are currently using. The purchases on this page represent expanded use of products we've used in the past as well as a host of new purchases and never before used apps and extensions.

Should Jericho have a remote or hybrid learning day:
- Use our distance learning subsite to keep up with the available software and best practices: http://jerichoschools.org/cms/one.aspx?portalId=5887816&pageId=48415351
- Make sure your home network is functional now, so you don’t have to worry about it should our circumstances change
- Communicate with students and parents frequently, and make sure everything is ultimately posted to Canvas (links to other resources you’re using, a link to your Google Classroom is you’re using it, etc.)

Instructional videos

Suggested: Minimum of twice per week per course

Teacher records a video for students in which new content is introduced. In a typical “flipped classroom,” this would consist of introducing enough information and modeling for students to be successful in practicing before application and transfer.

Either screencasts or videos explaining the following:

  • Aims for the unit or aims for the week.
  • Learning Objectives including content and practice
  • Performance Task Assignments for peer writing and editing assignments
  • Video recordings of lectures by experts
  • Assignments for student research
  • Discussion Boards
  • Assignments for student-created videos
