Peer Tutoring Club

Jericho High School

ALL Jericho High School students are invited to join our club!

Tutors are needed in all subject areas (including elective classes) and all grade levels from kindergarten through 12th grade. Tutors make their own arrangements with students regarding where and when to meet. Tutors volunteer their time and earn service credit for the time they spend tutoring.

Club Guidelines:

Peer tutors need at least 10 hours of tutoring over the course of the school year in order to get credit for being in the Peer Tutoring Club.

At least 5 hours must be for an assignment received through the club OR approved by the club advisor.

A maximum of 5 of hours can be for tutoring a family member or friend that you arranged on your own.

Club members are also expected to attend monthly club meetings on a regular basis.

Peer tutors need to keep track of tutoring hours on a timesheet. Each session must be recorded and signed by the tutor and the student at the time of the session. Timesheets can be found in the high school library.

Peer tutors who tutor for 20 hours or more will be nominated for a Service  Recognition Award in May.

Service requirements for National Honor Society: Only 5 hours of peer tutoring can count toward your service hours for Honor Society. These hours cannot be with a family member or friend that you arranged on your own. It must be an approved assignment. Honor Society Activities Logs are available in the guidance office.

Remember you are on your honor to submit an accurate account of your tutoring hours.
