Our Jericho Middle and High School Libraries are centrally located in the front of the building and in the middle of both schools. These beautiful air-conditioned libraries have a tremendous number of resources to meet our students' library needs. Now, more than ever, our libraries are the place to be!

Our Jericho Middle School Library features:

Computers

  • a teaching classroom with thirty computers and a smart board monitor
  • ten computers in the main library for student use, and a smart board
  • two high resolution projectors and large screens for computer presentations and demonstrations
  • Internet access on all above

Books

  • When you first hear the word "library" no doubt you think of books. The Jericho Middle School Library offers a wide range of materials that both support and enhance the curriculum. Our 17,370 plus book collection includes a strong reference collection, hundreds of classics, and enough recreational books to satisfy even the most avid reader! Books can be checked out for two weeks. If more time is needed, books can be renewed. Reference books and magazines are used in the library only. A photocopy machine is available. Our collection can be searched on the Internet via our online catalog.

The Jericho Middle School Library's OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) can be searched via the Internet simply click on the OPAC. You can search by anywhere, author, title, and subject.

The Jericho Middle School Library subscribes to a number of databases via the Internet. Click on the computer to access our online databases and World Book Online

Audio Books
Our library hasover 300 audio books , including 78 books available to download on students' IPODS. For information ask your librarian.

DVDs and Videos
The Jericho Middle School Library's collection of over 1400 DVDs and videos is always growing.

Library Hours
The library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. These after school hours give students time to complete homework and research assignments.

Information skills to last a lifetime - that's what students are taught in the Jericho Middle and High School Libraries. Patricia Minikel our Middle School lbrarian and Denise Ryder our High School Librarian are certified School Library Media Specialists who work to ensure that Jericho students learns to be effective "retrievers and users" of information. Whenever classes schedule into the library, the librarians teach formal lessons on how to use our libraries' resources to meet the specific needs of the assignment.

Teacher Aide


Mary Kuddar, our wonderful teacher aide, is available to assist students in the library from 8:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m.

Secretaries:


Mrs. Berger, is our fabulous secretary! She works from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Ms. Roberta Boritz is the newest member of our Middle School library staff, and we are very lucky and happy to have her!

The Jericho Middle School Library and the Jericho Public Library work closely together to serve the needs of our students and teachers. Check the public library for materials that have been put on reserve for class assignments.
