Naif Al-Mutawa, creator of the Ninety-Nine comic series,
was invited by Mrs. LaMelza to visit the Jericho Middle School

On April 7, 2008, Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa, the creator of the 99 series (www.the99.org), introduced Mrs. La Melza's eighth grade ELA classes to the creative and the business aspects of his endeavor. Based in Kuwait, where Dr. Al-Mutawa was in Mrs. La Melza's Senior IB English class nineteen years ago, he has created a comic book series about superheores powered by knowledge. His primary mission is both to foster the idea that we all share the same values and also to celebrate diversity. The underlying theme of Dr. Al-Mutawa's presentation is that perseverance is the key in pursuing one's dream.
