Doug Weight and Frans Nielsen from the New York Islanders celebrated Literacy Day at Jackson. Doug Weight captured the attention of students from kindergarten to fifth grade as he read the book, Brady, Brady and the Super Skater, a funny story about a girl hockey player. Following the reading, the players discussed why reading was important. Students also learned that Frans Nielsen not only spoke two languages but he spoke three languages! Both Weight and Nielsen made their visit to Jackson very memorable by answering questions, shaking hands with the children, taking pictures, and signing autographs. Jackson staff and students wish them much success in their upcoming season!
