For four decades Lois Smith has been a part of the Jericho Schools, first as a fine arts teacher, then as a junior high and learning center counselor, and currently, as Curriculum Associate for Guidance. Master's degrees in Guidance and Counseling, Special Education, Administration and Leadership from Long Island University/C.W. Post, and post graduate study at New York University and Hofstra University, have prepared her to meet the many challenges of her changing roles.

Understanding peoples, cultures and a love for travel has led her to leave her footprints throughout Europe, the Near East, the Far East, and in every state within the continental U.S. When time permits, Ms. Smith can be found at the theater or in her flower garden.

This is Scott Andrews' fourth year as a guidance counselor at Jericho High School. Mr. Andrews graduated from Brown University and holds two Master's degrees from Hofstra University. He is currently working on his Doctorate in Psychology at Hofstra. Mr. Andrews truly enjoys interacting with students and parents in Jericho. He is involved with Jericho students on many levels. He advises several clubs and is a member of the coaching staff. His door is always open, and he welcomes every visitor with a smile. Mr. Andrews and his wife Nancy, have a beautiful daughter named Kate.

Debbie Lisa-Brown, the newest member of the counseling department at Jericho High School, comes to Jericho with experience as a high school counselor and as a special education teacher. Most recently she worked in the guidance department of West Hempstead High School with students in grades 10-12 on issues such as study skills, stress management and college preparation. She also worked on an individual and small group basis with socially and academically deficient student populations.

Ms. Lisa-Brown graduated from Hofstra University with a Master of Science degree with Distinction in Counseling Education. Most recently, she was the recipient of the Marie Quinn Award for excellence in the counseling field from the Nassau County Counselors' Association. In addition, Ms. Lisa-Brown has worked in the marketing and advertising industries prior to completing her master's degree. Given her experiences in business, and counseling she has the unique ability to combine the two when working with students to coordinate their career goals with college planning and selection.

Joan Rosenberg begins her eighteenth year as a counselor at Jericho High School, after working at Francis Lewis High School for six years. During her tenure here she has coached and been and advisor for numerous clubs and activities.

Mrs. Rosenberg brings a unique perspective to the school, as she is also a Jericho graduate and a current resident. Having earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Boston University, her Master's in Counseling from Columbia University and a Professional Diploma in Administration from C.W. Post, her commitment to the students of Jericho remains steadfast. She enjoys the opportunities the Jericho counseling system provides to develop close working relationships with students and their families. She finds it quite rewarding to know that Jericho's staff and curriculum offerings have influenced the career paths of recent alumni. Mrs. Rosenberg looks forward to meeting new students every year while continuing to work with her existing caseload.

Dr. Stacey Agin Schwartz is beginning her third year as the school psychologist at Jericho High School. She received a B.A. from Cornell University and a Doctorate of Psychology degree from New York University. She is both a certified school psychologist and a licensed psychologist. Prior to coming to Jericho, she worked at the League School, a special education setting in Brooklyn. Dr. Schwartz sees her job at Jericho as being multifaceted, interesting and rewarding. She gets to know many of her students and their families through counseling, running groups and conducting evaluations. When students are suffering from social, emotional or academic difficulties, she helps to assess their needs and coordinate treatment efforts.

As a teacher/coordinator of Project Care, Dr. Schwartz supervises student volunteers at a nearby senior citizen residence. She will also be the advisor of the Peer Tutoring Program this year. Dr. Schwartz' goal is simple. She strives to be available to all students, to support them, and to provide the necessary services that will help them negotiate the challenging years of high school.

Beginning his sixteenth year, Todd Benjamin is the social worker and substance abuse counselor at Jericho High School. He received his Bachelor's degree from Kent State University and his Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Adelphi University. Additionally, he holds post Masters certifications from the South Oaks Institute as a Licensed Alcoholism Counselor and an Addiction Specialist Certificate from Adelphi University's post Masters program. Recently, Mr. Benjamin received certification as a Crisis Prevention Specialist and a credentialed Crisis Prevention Trainer.

In Mr. Benjamin's role as a school social worker, he provides prevention, intervention and referral services to students in grades 9-12 who are experiencing concerns regarding self-esteem, academic progress, family problems, peer conflicts, eating disorders and substance abuse issues. His clinical services include individual, family, and group counseling sessions.

Additionally, Mr. Benjamin functions as the advisor to the Jericho High School SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Chapter, Youth Decide Program (Peer Drug Educators) and the Jericho Conflict Resolution advisor and facilitator.
