Introduction

Today’s students have too many distractions. Let’s run our bodies instead of computers, video games and televisions. 
 
 



Tasks

You have received a phone call from the US Olympic Committee. You have been asked to be the head track & field coach. Your responsibilities during this one week experience are the following:

I. To learn about Heart Rate and Target Heart Rate
II. Develop a cardiovascular workout for a 1600 meter runner

Process
             1. You will follow instructions to accomplish the tasks.

Due Date
Task I- Define and Calculate your Target Heart Rate. 
            Email your information to me. 
1 class session
Task II – Graph the heart rate of three different people after 2 minutes of sitting, walking, and running in place.
            Email your information  to me.
4 class sessions
Task III –Present a Powerpoint presentation of a cardiovascular workout for a 1600 meter runner.
            Arrange to present project to me after the last session.
15 class sessions

            2. Review the Web sites below. Take notes that can help you remember the information you
               find. One site can have good information for more than one task.

Conclusion

Now that you have submitted your project its time to put it to use.  I expect you to share the information that you learned with your classmates.  Your competency on this project should qualify you for coach of the 2004 U.S. track and field team.  Good Luck!
