I hope you are looking forward to A.P. Biology as much as I am to teaching it to you. Its hard work, but I hope you will enjoy it.

You will be responsible for all material described in the attached course outline and for the A.P. exam, which all students are required to take. Since our school year begins a month later as compared to many other states, we essentially have one month less to complete the curriculum for the May exam. In order to cover all the material, it is therefore necessary that all A.P. students complete the following assignment over the summer. Do not leave this assignment until the last weeks of summer. It will take the average Advanced Placement student approximately 16 hours to complete.

Assignment:

  1. Read the two handouts. Please do not write in these packets. They are to be returned to me in September.

  1. Outline notes on all pages. You will use these to study from. Pay particular attention to the Chordates, that’s us. Your outline should be approximately 20 pages and must not be typed.

  1. When you have completed the reading, answer the attached essay question. This will be typed, double-spaced and this should be 2 pages max.

  1. Your essay and notes will be collected on the first day of school. This is your first major assignment. IT IS A PREREQUISITE FOR THE COURSE. Any late assignment will be read but will not receive credit.

             Materials necessary

to complete this assignment may be picked up in

my classroom, room 302 or in the Guidance Suite
                 after June.

Looking forward to seeing you next year,

Mrs. Bott & Mrs. Ciasulli
