Board of Ed Meetings in March By Mary Marks The Jericho Board of Education will hold their Budget
Review on Thursday, March 5 at 7:30 pm in the middle school library.
This meeting will include an overview of efficiencies attained in the
district over the past few years, budget summary and revenues, fund
balance management and contingent budget rules. “Our district is
extremely mindful of the uncertain economic times that we are facing.
Members of the Jericho school community are cordially invited to join
us as we summarize the budget development process for the 2009-2010
school year,” said Superintendent of Schools Hank Grishman. “The
Board of Education and district administration will review the proposed
budget, which was dissected line by line during three prior workshops.
We encourage residents to attend this meeting, examine the information,
ask questions and provide input for the Board’s consideration before
a finalized Budget is adopted at the March 19th Board Meeting.”
In addition to the Budget Review, the meeting will
include a presentation by Eric Sundberg, K-12 Social Studies Curriculum
Associate. The Board of Education is scheduled to meet briefly
at 6 pm in the Central Administration Conference room. At that time,
they will determine whether to go into Executive Session. If no Executive
Session is needed, the Board will recess until the public session scheduled
for 7:30 pm. If there is a need for Executive Session, the Board will
vote to go into Executive Session and will resume its public session
at 7:30 pm. If a member of the public wishes to have a statement
read during a Board meeting included in the minutes, he/she must hand
a written copy of the remarks to Dr. Joan Colvin, our district clerk,
immediately before speaking. In an effort to insure accuracy, the Board
will only include statements from those who comply with this policy.
As always, the Board and district administration encourage all members
of the school community to attend. The Board of Ed Meeting on Thursday, March 19, in the Cantiague Elementary School at 7:45 pm, will include the formal Budget Adoption and a presentation by the Elementary School Principals. |
