The Jericho
Board of Education Meeting and Budget
Workshops #1 and #2 is scheduled for Thursday, January 22 at 7:30 pm
in the Middle School Library. The budget items on the
evening’s agenda will cover Central Services, Operations and Maintenance,
Curriculum Development and Supervision, Community Service, Services
for Children with Special Needs, Health, Library, Media, Guidance and
Co-Curricular and Athletics. “Our district is extremely mindful
of the uncertain economic times that we are facing. Members of the Jericho
school community are cordially invited to join us as we begin the budget
development process for the 2009-2010 school year,” said Superintendent
of Schools Hank Grishman. “The Board of Education and district
administration will review the proposed budget, line by line, during
four scheduled workshops. We encourage residents to attend meetings,
examine the information as it is presented, ask questions and provide
input for the Board’s consideration before a finalized budget is
adopted in March.” In addition to the Budget Workshop,
the regularly scheduled Board Meeting will include a presentation by
Helene Kriegstein, K-12 Mathematics Curriculum Associate and a Demographics
Update by Dr. Ben Ciuffo. The Board of Education is scheduled
to meet briefly at 6 pm in the Central Administration conference room.
At that time, they will determine whether to go into Executive Session.
If no Executive Session is needed, the Board will recess until the public
session scheduled for 7:30 pm. If there is a need for Executive Session,
the Board will vote to go into Executive Session and will resume its
public session at 7:30 pm. If a member of the public wishes to
have a statement read during a board meeting included in the minutes,
he/she must hand a written copy of the remarks to Dr. Joan Colvin, our
district clerk, immediately before speaking. In an effort to insure
accuracy, the board will only include statements from those who comply
with this policy. As always, the board and district administration encourage
all members of the school community to attend. Follow-up budget meetings, which will
be held in the middle school library: * Workshop
#3, during February Board of Ed Meeting, on Wednesday, February 11 at
7:30 pm, includes Regular Instruction, Computer Technology,
Employee Benefits and Transportation. * Workshop
#4 on Thursday, March 5 at 7:30 pm includes a Full Budget
Review of Revenue and Expenditures. * The Board of Ed Meeting on Thursday, March 19, in the Cantiague Elementary School at 7:45 pm, includes the formal Budget Adoption. |
