Meet Mrs. Burrows

Starting a new school year is always filled with excitement and nervousness. I know exactly how you feel. I may be a teacher now, but I went to school once too. I went to Chestnut Hill Elementary School in Melville, New York, and my fifth grade teacher's name was Ms. Jones. She was a huge Islanders' fan, and I remember that everyday after lunch, she would read a chapter book to us. It was one of my favorite parts of the day.

I went to middle school and high school in Melville, too. In college, I majored in Human Development and Family Studies and received my teaching degree. I then completed my Master's degree in Reading and Special Education. After being a substitute teacher for one year, I was hired at Cantiague Elementary School as a fourth grade teacher and have been teaching here ever since! After 14 years, I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade again this year! I am looking forward to all of the exciting projects and activities we'll do this year!

I currently live in Syosset, New York with my husband, David, who I have been married to for 10 years, our daughter Rachel, who is first grade this year, and our son, Joshua, who just turned 3. The four of us love to be outside. Over the summer, we traveled to the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts for a family reunion and to Cape Cod in Massachusetts with our friends! We also spent lots of time at the beach and playing at parks.

This year you will be able to find me in Room 26! Stop by and say hello anytime!
