Bucket Assembly

On Friday, September 5, 2008, all the children gathered in the library at different times to participate in a Welcome/Kick-off The Year Assembly. Each grade level of children came at a different time and spent about a half hour with Mr. Sinanis reading a book and having a discussion. The focus of the assembly was the book "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?", which spotlighted the social/emotional development of our children through the concept of invisible buckets. The message of the book was simple and clear - your actions and words can either fill someone's emotional bucket, which is a great thing, or your actions and words can dip into someone's emotional bucket, which is not a great thing. This book was selected because it helped set the tone for the year and introduced the concept of the BIG FOUR to the children - Be Positive, Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful! The BIG FOUR keeps the verbiage simple and quickly reminds the children what they need to do to be BUCKET FILLERS, which is our goal for each and every day this year!
