Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon
On February 14th, the Cantiague School community came together to launch the 2007 - 2008 school theme "STAND TALL." Students listened to a reading of Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon by Lorraine Tedesco, Lesley Kalish, Joe Prinzevalli and Clare Hussey. Students also watched a video presentation and sang a song under the supervision of Mrs. Hussey. With the help of Mrs. Menkes, 3rd graders drew anti-bullying posters which were placed around the building by parents. After the assembly, the students placed their anti-bullying pledges on a Molly poster to create her crazy hair. A tour of the school was taken by each class allowing students to see all the different pledges and poster sayings to have a better understanding of the ways they can prevent bullying. At the end of the day, mouse pads that were created in the computer lab with Mrs. Kalish, were distributed to the students to take home. The mouse pad should act as a reminder to STAND TALL, and be an "upstander," not a "bystander" when you see bully like behavior. As you can see by our pictures, this was a memorable experience shared by all!
